As per recent news, the Unite Trade Union is waiting for the ballot results for a strike by the British Airways cabin crew. Unite is said to disregard any major event, like the Royal Wedding, in case the polling reveals a positive result from the union’s perspective. News has it saying that the general secretary of Britain’s leading union is determined not to discard strikes until and unless a major event comes their way. They always have regards for chief events in the nation.
They have no intentions to disrupt events that have a nationwide importance. Unite which is about to commence on its 4th British Airways strike in around 16 months interval. Recent reports have revealed that the cabin crew is determined to proceed with the move undeterred by any major emotion. The strike has resulted out of a dispute that occurred during 2009.
Substantial part of the BA workforce has voted for the event to take place. However, the British Airways has appealed under legal grounds. Unite is unwillingly to act for the strike during the Royal wedding to keep the event unperturbed from any industrial reasons. The general secretary is not too keen on sanctioning the strike date.
They are probably trying to find an alternative for the date, but in case the members are determined to move further on the following date, then it is estimated the cabin crew certainly have a definite cause to bring upon the strike. Britain which is a major tourist destination is rich for its European history and culture and the strike is likely to disturb tourist moving to-and-fro.
